Competent, individual, safe and sustainable – Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) make a decisive contribution to the optimization of processes in intralogistics. The most important thing after the implementation, is to have the right service concept and individually customized support to ensure that the systems remain efficient over an expected lifecycle of at least 20 years.

The trend toward automated guided vehicles (AGVs) continues: they are one of the key technologies for future-proof intralogistics. Especially the demand for flat and powerful platform vehicles is increasing noticeably. With its FAST MOVE, ek robotics offers a smart, flexible and flat transport robot that meets the most important requirements and has already been able to prove its special performance in practice several times.

Today, the groundbreaking ceremony for the future company headquarters of ek robotics took place on the Elbe island of Veddel in Hamburg. Located in the immediate vicinity of the city center, southeast of HafenCity, the new innovation and production site of the transport robotics expert is being built on a construction site of approx. 17,000 square meters. From 2023, ek robotics will offer space for at least 400 employees on a floor area of approximately 10,000 square meters. Guest of honor Michael Westhagemann, Hamburg's Senator for Economics and Innovation, was unable to attend the ceremony at short notice; Lutz M. Birke, Head of the Port and Innovation Department, attended on behalf of the guest.

In global competition, there is high cost pressure. Processes are becoming increasingly complex, and production is becoming more and more individualized. Companies that want to survive here must make their production as productive and efficient as possible. Industry 4.0 is the name of the solution behind the fourth industrial revolution: Here, production is interlinked with state-of-the-art information and communication technology.

New brand identity and name for transport robotics specialist

"Intuitive-non-verbal and informative-verbal robot-human communication" - this is the objective of the INTUITIV project started in mid-2018, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, in which ek robotics is participating and acting as the joint coordinator. Together with the project partners, the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) GmbH, GESTALT Robotics GmbH and HFC Human-Factors-Consult GmbH, ek robotics is developing an assistance robot to support nursing staff in the rehabilitation sector.
