NEURA Robotics acquires ek robotics

ek robotics GmbH, one of the leading manufacturers of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), has found a new owner in NEURA Robotics GmbH. With this acquisition, the long-term future of the renowned company is secured.

With NEURA Robotics – a fast-growing high-tech company from Metzingen specializing in cognitive robotics – ek robotics gains a partner that will set the course for the further development of intelligent, autonomous logistics solutions and open up new opportunities for customers, partners, and employees. “With NEURA Robotics, we are gaining a partner that complements our business with innovation and offers us exciting new perspectives. For our employees, customers, and suppliers, this is a clear signal: ek robotics remains a strong player in intralogistics,” says Andreas Lindemann, Managing Director of ek robotics.

NEURA Robotics also emphasizes the significance of the partnership: “The acquisition of ek robotics is far more than an add-on; it is the beginning of a new dimension in mobile robotics. Together, we will combine existing strengths with our product portfolios, accelerate the pace of innovation, and create a global offering that sets new standards. Our aim is not only to continue ek robotics’ products, but to infuse them with new energy and ideas and re-establish them as the worldwide benchmark. This is a win for customers, partners, and all employees. At the same time, it sends a strong signal that Germany and Europe intend to play a leading role in this major future market,” says David Reger, CEO of NEURA Robotics GmbH.

The acquisition is the result of self-administered insolvency proceedings, during which an intensive search for a viable solution was conducted in recent weeks. As part of the transaction, the company will operate under the name Neura Mobile Robotics GmbH going forward. The established ek robotics brand will be retained as an independent brand and remain active in the market. Operational responsibility will continue to lie with Managing Director Andreas Lindemann, who will lead the company into the future. Business operations at ek robotics will continue without restrictions. All existing customer and supplier relationships will be maintained, and all services will remain permanently secured. In addition to the German entity, the subsidiaries in England, Italy, and the Czech Republic are also part of the transaction – they were not affected by the proceedings.

ek robotics currently employs around 300 people at five locations worldwide and generated revenues of approximately EUR 60 million in fiscal year 2024. Court-appointed administrator Stefan Denkhaus explicitly welcomes the solution: “The acquisition by NEURA Robotics safeguards the interests of creditors, customers, and employees alike and creates a stable foundation for the company’s continued development.” The management team was supported during the self-administered process by Jochen Sedlitz and his team from Grub Brugger. The successful transaction was advised by M&A consultancy Wayes.

About NEURA Robotics

NEURA Robotics was founded in 2019 by David Reger to close key innovation gaps and usher in the era of cognitive robotics. The award-winning innovators from Metzingen pursue a strict “one-device” approach across their entire product range – from industrial to household robots. The concept is comparable to a smartphone with arms and legs, integrating all essential components and sensors for physical artificial intelligence into a single device. With its “Neuraverse,” the company is creating the foundation for the iPhone moment in robotics, bridging the gap between technology and humanity. Core cognitive skills, a safety and operating system, and an open development environment for partners enable robotics applications to scale in unprecedented ways. A growing range of apps and autonomous learning open up vast fields of application in daily life as well as unmatched flexibility and cost efficiency in automation.

The Robotics Hub emerging around NEURA attracts numerous international market leaders. NEURA Robotics has established partnerships with Kawasaki Robotics, Omron Robotics and Safety Technologies, Delta Electronics, and other leading manufacturers. All key innovations and technological components, including AI, are developed in-house at NEURA Robotics. This has set new benchmarks in physical AI, precision, and safety. NEURA’s cognitive robots can see, hear, and feel; they act fully autonomously and learn from experience. Today, with more than 700 employees, NEURA is well on its way to bringing the world’s first humanoid general-purpose robot to market. At the OMR Opening in Hamburg in May 2025, the company presented the world’s first household and service robot named MiPA.
